Why do I feel sick when exercising, especially if I drink water?
January 27, 2012 | 2 Comments
I try to exercise three or four times a week, and my exercising never gets too vigorous. I don’t have the stamina to run or do aerobics so I take it easy with exercise dvds and walking on treadmills at the gym and on the bikes. Yet after about 15 minutes of exercise I feel really nauseus and I keep burping, and if I drink water during the workout or eat sooner than 3 or 4 hours before working out I feel like it will come out of my mouth whilst exercising. Its disgusting and I cant lose any weight and I’m wondering why its happening and what I can do. Any ideas?? thankyou

What are some good tips on getting me healthy?
January 17, 2012 | 1 Comment
Ok I am an 18 year old and I wanted to know some tips on getting healthy. I am about 256 or so, but a good majority of it is muscle from my thighs, calves, arms, and shoulders. I bike ride, swim, and lift weights. I don’t run because, well I just cant. I don’t have the stamina. I’m using bike riding hoping to build stamina. So I have a lot of muscle but surrounded by a good deal of fat and it just isn’t going away. So I was hoping to find some good tips on a good diet for my age. So obviously like fruits and veggies and stuff and cutting out the junk and fast food and the pop (aka soda
) So if you know of any good exercises to get rid of some on the stomach, inner thigh, and chest fat and a good diet to use just like for snacks im not looking for like a full diet just no more junk food for snacks and healthy drinks. So help me out ya? Thanks

December 29, 2011 | 5 Comments
So bball try-outs are in about 3 weeks and i need to get myself in shape. I guess I am not in horrible shape but I need to improve my stamina, etc. Any ideas of exercises/routines i can do that will be pretty affective in a short amount of time.
Also, I have a membership to a gym but I don’t really know what to do while i’m there. Any exercise routines I can do at a gym with ellipticals, treadmills, stationary bikes, weights, etc. Thanks for any help!

will i see results or should i change things?
December 20, 2011 | 1 Comment
i recently started going to the gym. i’m 5′6 and about 119lbs, so obviously i’m not trying to lose a lot of weight. I know some people are going to tell me i dont need to lose any, i could probably gain a few, etc… but the number or even BMI doesnt tell the whole story. I try not to worry as much about numbers and more how I look and feel.
with that said, I’m basically just trying to get rid of a few stubborn pounds and inches, particularly my [lower] abs and my legs. I’m trying to go either every day or every other day, giving myself a day to rest if i need it or the occasional day to just go out and have fun or relax.
im working on getting my stamina back up because its been a long time since i really worked out and i was never super athletic. but for example today I warmed up with 10 minutes on the treadmill powerwalking at about 4mph and 4%incline, then i did 30 minutes/2.5 miles on the elliptical averaging about 5mph, then cooled off with 5ish on the bike [i was going to do 15 but i saw someone i didnt want to see or talk to so i left LOL]
if i keep at this atleast 4-5x a week, will i see results soon? Should i try to lengthen the time more even if its a bit slower, or shorten it and do higher intensity? I do plan to incorporate some weight training into this, however i’ve heard its best to lose weight THEN gain muscle. I dont want to have muscle building up under fat and making me look bigger.
**Also,
when i eat, I don’t eat a lot, however what i do eat really isnt the best. But i’m trying hard to cut back on sodas, excess snacks and late-night eating. I dont seem to be gaining weight from my current diet, just maintaining basically. so i guess im lucky to have an already fast metabolism. im also very picky so it makes it kinda hard to take on a whole new healthy diet. but will moderate changes plus the exercise make a difference or won’t i see results unless i totally change my diet too?

Running help…………………Pleeeeeease!!???? Thanksss!!?
December 10, 2011 | 3 Comments
Ok so i’m currently training for the british army. I will be totally honest with you and say i absoloutley hate running. I want this so much though so i’m pushing through it, no pain..no gain right? Sometimes you have to do the stuff you hate to get what you want.
BUT i find it so hard. I dred it the night before to the point where it actually scares me. I know once in the army, it will motivate me more when with other people but whilst training it’s awful.
I’ve already done a fitness test & i did the 1.5 mile run in a good time. I’ve now come away to train more before selection because i would like to fly through, rather than just scrape.
The funny thing is, i want to enjoy running, i want to be good at running but i can’t get through this part to get to the part because i hate it so much.
I have strong legs and i used to have great stamina in swimming, i’m good at cycling and my parents say that i have the muscle strength and power in my body to run really well but i can’t stand it. I don’t want this to hold me back, i don’t want to say one day “i could have had a lifetime career in the army…but i let it slip away because i couldn’t run” < what an excuse!
I’ve tried & tried but i just can’t seem to hack it. I know there is no alternative.
I’ve tried just going for it, i’ve tried building it up slowly, i’ve tried jogging to help me along a bit. Nothing works.
I can’t keep it up, i start and after about 1 minute…i just feel like i can’t go on.
I don’t know how i ever managed to do that 1.5 mile, i mean i’m fitter now than i was then but i couldn’t imagine doing it again even though i must be capable of it because i’ve done it again.
I’m not asking for a way out of running because i know it has to be done but i’m so stuck.
Listening to music doesn’t help, eating good foods doesn’t, energy drinks or drinking water doesn’t help, breathing techniques don’t…nothing does. I can’t stick it.
I don’t know if there are any other forms of exercise and fitness to improve my running (i don’t even know if its the running itself…) it might be stamina, it might be will power…it might be mental…or physical..i don’t know. I just don’t enjoy running & i find it difficult.
I think maybe i can do it but it hurts & i get so het up about it, its unbelievable.
I’m doing other sports like cycling and skipping but running is still as hard. I try to start off with jogging but that doesn’t help.
I supose i’m just looking for a miracle. Because i know “practise makes perfect” but how can i stick it out enough to practise when i hate it so much. seems impossible.
Any help greatly appreicated.
Oh i also do power training in the afternoon for upper body strength…i do an evening bike ride too and running & skipping in the morning.
Thank you
no i’m not an asthmatic which is even stranger so i should be able to, i just can’t

Why won’t she let me…?

Take a walk around the block alone?!
My mom says it’s not safe for me to walk around the block, even though I know I need the exercise.
We have a treadmill, but walking outside, breathing fresh air, and being around all the trees and flowers is SO much better!
I’m at a healthy weight, but I almost never exercise, and I now feel like it’s time to make a change, because I’m pretty much shaping my body for the rest of my life. (I’m 13)
I also want to feel healthier, and have more stamina for the now mandatory physical education class I’m taking.
She lets my brother ride his bike half a mile to his friend’s house, and he’s a year younger!
Is there any way I can convince her to let me take walks for my own health?
I want to go on walks alone, or with my dogs, because it really seems like a good time to think.
I enjoy the physical exercise, the sun, and knowing I’m doing something good for my body.
I look older than 13, anyways, and I carry my phone with me everywhere.

Brittany Questions for owners?
November 12, 2011 | 1 Comment
Okay so I am thinking about getting a Brittany spaniel. I run about 30 miles a week, I also bike 30 miles a week, and I Rollerblade a lot. So for those of you that own one can you answer some questions about energy/stamina
1.) Can a Brittany jog with me for about 5 miles?
2.) Would a Brittany be able to pull me on Rollerblades (3-4 miles, with me helping of course)?
3.) Would a Brittany be able to keep up on a bike ride about 6 miles a day?
is not all in one day its usually in one week. I usually either bike or run depending on the day, and I split it up three miles in the morning and three miles in the afternoon. And Rollerblade on the weekends.
And I will not be doing this on a regular basis until the dog’s growth plates close (1.5-2 years) and the dogs hips are OFA’d. He will get plenty of exercise just not this hard.
Also for those of you who own a birtt any pros and cons that you can think of of the top of your head for this breed?

Why isn’t cycling a more common way of travelling for adults? Why is it seen as “dorky?”?
November 2, 2011 | 2 Comments
Why isn’t it as popular as it is in China or even in places like New Zealand? I mean, it’s pretty prevalent amongst kids, but not amongst adults. In fact, there’s this feeling that at some age in your life, it no longer is “cool” if you still ride a bike as a main method of transportation. For example, in that movie “40 year old virgin,” Andy rides a bicycle and he’s jokingly criticized numerous times for it (Okay, maybe the rear view mirrors on the bike were a little much). I think it’s a pretty efficient way to travel. You can burn off a lot of energy, improve your stamina and overall health. Not to mention you don’t have to worry about damn insurance, expensive gas prices and not to mention traffic. And if you’re worried about mud stains, they have mud guards.
And okay, maybe you might not be an exercise kind of guy, but a lot of people view using the bus as “lame” too. And it’s like practically every car that passes me by only has one person driving it– the driver. There’s like a 1 person to 1 car ratio. There are only 4 people in my house and 3 of them have cars. Why don’t people carpool? It would save so much money. I don’t get it. People need a car to drive to work, but the only reason they need to work is to pay for their stupid car (and other small stuff like occasionally eating food, and not spending the night out in the cold).
I think it’s the fact that our society is becoming more and more impersonal. I never realized how easy it was to practically drive for hours without actually seeing another person face to face (besides in a head on collison of course heh). Glare off the front glass, tinted windows, and split second exchanges of glances etc. If people were to switch to other forms of transportation (like bus and bike), then would they would have to be forced to actually cross paths with a complete stranger! Oh dear lord! What if somebody actually sits beside me on the bus! Yuck! Or is it like an “independent” thing? Blasting your “unique” brand of music and cussing as much as possible while there’s no one around to hear it? But is that all really worth the migraine-causing, irritating gas-break-honk-flipping the finger-stuck in traffic routine that a car brings. And isn’t it kind of funny that cars were created to save more time and make our lives more efficient and people still get pissed off in traffic or generally when they have their precious time wasted?
I’m from Ontario, Canada in the GTA.
